Softball Recap: Williams Wins Going Away Against Mayer

While Williams put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Mayer. The Vikings put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 27-0 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Audrina Baldwin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Williams let Faith Jensen and Kenzie Orozco run wild. Jensen got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double, while Orozco got on base in four of her five plate appearances with six RBI, two runs, and one double. What's more, Jensen posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Danika Howe was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Williams always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .870. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Williams pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Mayer, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Williams wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 22-0 victory against Red Rock on the 28th. As for Mayer, they have also already played their next matchup, an 18-9 win against Maryvale Prep on the 27th.
