Even though the Long Rebels scored an imposing 65 points on Friday, the Ariton Purple Cats still came out on top. Ariton snuck past Long with a 70-65 win. Given Ariton's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Long is ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ian Senn was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 42 points and 4 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Tyler, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
The win was the third in a row for Ariton, bringing their record for this year to 15-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Long, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.
Ariton will head out on the road to face off against Barbour County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Barbour County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three games. Long does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
