It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the University Trailblazers can now relate to. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Friday. University was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
University's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keira Bright, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Bright hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Anyah Jordan-Turley, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
University has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Covenant Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-16.
University does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Covenant Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Sheridan will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
