The Longmont Trojans will challenge the Windsor Wizards at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Longmont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.
Longmont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 41-34 victory over Grand Junction. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Longmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Lombrano, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lombrano has scored at least a third of Longmont's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhys Odom, who posted ten points.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Windsor against Pueblo East on Friday as the squad secured a 69-39 victory. The Wizards have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.
Longmont better keep an eye on Madden Smiley. He was instrumental in Windsor's win, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 20 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was John Backhaus, who scored eight points in addition to 16 boards and five assists.
Windsor was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They are 17-4 when they've passed the ball that well.
Windsor has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. Longmont's win bumped their record up to 16-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Longmont has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Windsor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Longmont ended up a good deal behind Windsor when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 56-38. Can Longmont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
