3A Region IV District 26 recap September 17, 2013
Cuero was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in 3A Region IV District 26. The Gobblers vanquished Jones 40-7 earlier in the week.
Yoakum scaled the state rankings by moving to 417 from 472 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Hallettsville 39-28.
Miguel Resendiz was the best receiver in the league this week as Yoakum lost to the Brahmas. Resendiz racked up 4 receptions for 89 yards. Caden Fishbeck helped Yoakum's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 67 yards.
Dillon Davis threw for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Davis put up the best numbers through the air as La Grange topped Royal. Davis' favorite target this week was Wes Scott, who caught 3 passes for 76 yards.
Tre'vontae Hights was the best running back in 3A Region IV District 26 this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 168 yards as Brent Kornegay's team lost to Hallettsville. Tj Hights also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.
Hights provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bulldogs fell to Tommy Psencik's team.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Leopards' Davis and Scott have proven to be a lethal combination. Davis has thrown for 483 yards this season, while Scott has 11 catches for 248 yards. Yoakum's Hights leads the league in rushing yards with 449.
Smithville fell to Liberty Hill 54-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
