Clair Ferebee made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Caroline Halstead was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Addie Phelps was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Lawrence Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Halifax Academy made easy work of Harrells Christian Academy two weeks ago and carried off a 13-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won six in a row.
Like Lawrence Academy, Halifax Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Payton Odom. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Odom has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Halifax Academy got a massive performance out of Maddy Bethel, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Emma Inscoe, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Lawrence Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Halifax Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11-1.
Halifax Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lawrence Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. It's a different story for Halifax Academy, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Lawrence Academy's hitters?
