There's no place like home for The Calallen Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They didn't even let Tuloso-Midway onto the board and left with a 17-0 win on Friday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Calallen was the (much) better team in the second half.
Calallen can attribute much of their success to Jude Hernandez, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Hernandez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Calallen also got a significant boost from Luke Medina, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Despite the defeat, Tuloso-Midway saw an underclassman step up: Damian Figueroa rushed for 128 yards on only 11 carries. Figueroa is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Calallen's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34 points. As for Tuloso-Midway, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.
Coincidentally, Calallen and Tuloso-Midway will both be playing Hidalgo the next time they take the field. Tuloso-Midway will host Hidalgo at 0:00 a.m. on Friday, while Calallen will head out to face them at 0:00 a.m. on November 3rd.
