Silverado is 0-6 against Liberty since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Silverado Skyhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Liberty Patriots at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Silverado has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Liberty will arrive with five straight wins.
Last Friday, Silverado faced Arbor View in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Silverado fell 17-6 to Arbor View.
Meanwhile, even though Shadow Ridge scored an imposing 32 points on Thursday, Liberty still came out on top. Liberty narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Shadow Ridge 35-32.
Liberty's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyrese Smith, who threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Brody Armani also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
Silverado's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-0 Bishop Gorman and 8-2 Liberty (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.9% over those games). As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Silverado was dealt a bruising 35-0 defeat at the hands of Liberty in their previous matchup on October 6th. Can Silverado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
