Springfield hasn't had much luck against Anthony Wayne recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Generals at 5:00 p.m. Springfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Springfield's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Waite. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Cale Whitmire and Blake Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Whitmire tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Young pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Whitmire also tossed no walks, which is notable because Springfield is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-9 otherwise. At the plate, Whitmire got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Young went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Young has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Max Sherrick was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Jaxon Falls was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Springfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Anthony Wayne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Swanton 7-5.
Springfield's record is now 6-11. As for Anthony Wayne, their record now sits at 13-6.
Springfield couldn't quite get it done against Anthony Wayne in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 8-4. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
