Baseball Recap: Rural Retreat Comes Up Short

Rural Retreat managed to slip by Eastside the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Indians came up short against the Spartans on Monday, falling 16-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Indians couldn't push the score so high this time.

Rural Retreat saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Childers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Childers has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Dakota Lemmon also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Rural Retreat's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Eastside, they pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Rural Retreat will head out to face off against Honaker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastside, they will take on Holston at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans are facing the Cavaliers at the right time seeing as the Cavaliers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
