The Cinco Ranch Cougars will challenge the Jordan Warriors at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
While Cinco Ranch didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Katy Taylor with a sharp 9-1 win on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Mustangs on their field since February 14, 2023.
Gaby Perez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last nine matchups. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lindsey DeLeon, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaedyn Maxwell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Cinco Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Jordan came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mavericks a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Warriors have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Madison Royse and Madeline Jovanovic did most of the damage at the plate: Royse got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Jovanovic went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that Royse has snagged this season. Madison Douglass was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Cinco Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 7-4-1. As for Jordan, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cinco Ranch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Jordan struggles in that department as they've averaged .554. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cinco Ranch couldn't quite get it done against Jordan in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 10-7. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
