On Saturday, the Green Valley Gators's game was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past Western 34-32. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Green Valley.
Leading Green Valley to victory were Kyra Willey and Gianessa Vazquez. Willey scored nine points along with four steals, while Vazquez scored 16 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Vazquez has scored at least 25% of Green Valley's points.
Western's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Laila Lwaba , who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Jemini Davis who scored six points. Lwaba scored a full 56.3% of Western's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Green Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-13 record this season. As for Western, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Green Valley will play host again and welcome Silverado, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Silverado is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Western, they will head out on the road to face off against Sierra Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sierra Vista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Thursday.
