Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Lighthouse Christian

Lighthouse Christian's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Glenns Ferry Pilots by a score of 16-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their one-run performance the game before.

Karsten Sweesy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kasdan Kast was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Xander Ramirez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI.

Lighthouse Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenns Ferry only posted an OBP of .417.

Lighthouse Christian pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Glenns Ferry, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lighthouse Christian will host North Star at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Glenns Ferry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Melba at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pilots are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
