Chambers is 8-0 against West Mecklenburg since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chambers Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Chambers' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Mallard Creek scored an imposing 75 points on Friday, Chambers still came out on top. Chambers took down Mallard Creek 92-75. Given Chambers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Mallard Creek is ranked 199th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Maurio Hanson II, who dropped a triple-double on 25 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. Tarris Bouie was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for West Mecklenburg, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-48 loss to Palisades on Tuesday. West Mecklenburg has not had much luck with Palisades recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Chambers' win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for West Mecklenburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Chambers against West Mecklenburg in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 84-31 win. With Chambers ahead 56-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
