It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Magee Trojans can now relate to. They fell just short of Jefferson County by a score of 30-27. Magee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Jefferson County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Magee lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Kendarious Porter. Despite the final result, he rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Leading Jefferson County to victory were Royale Shelvy and Jabari Watson. Shelvy picked up 151 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Watson rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Jefferson County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Tylan Johnson was especially locked on to Magee's QB and sacked him twice.
Magee's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Jefferson County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Magee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jefferson County will take on Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
