The Neighborhood House Charter Legends put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They escaped with a win against Maimonides by the margin of a single free throw, 59-58. Given Neighborhood House Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the M-Cats are ranked 58th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Neighborhood House Charter to victory were Alicia Browder and Karin Richardson. Browder scored 18 points, while Richardson scored 24 points. Richardson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played.
Despite the loss, Maimonides still got an impressive performance from Leah Kaplan, who scored 30 points. That was a full 51.7% of Maimonides' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eden Taieb, who scored 13 points.
Neighborhood House Charter pushed their record up to 15-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Maimonides, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Neighborhood House Charter won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the at 4:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Maimonides does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
