The Vina Red Devils lost against the Brilliant Tigers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Vina fell 65-53 to Brilliant. Vina has not had much luck with Brilliant recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Vina still got an impressive performance from Sara Harper, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Harper is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaley Attaway, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Brilliant found their leader in underclassman Hadlee Sanderson, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Sanderson has scored at least 25% of Brilliant's points. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Omary, who scored ten points.
Vina has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Brilliant, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vina won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hackleburg at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hackleburg is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.4 points per game. Brilliant will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Hubbertville at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th.
