Basketball Game Preview: Redwood Christian Eagles vs. Contra Costa Christian Cougars

The Redwood Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Contra Costa Christian Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Redwood Christian has eight straight victories, Contra Costa Christian has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Redwood Christian was fully in charge, breezing past Quarry Lane 74-32. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Redwood Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nehemiah Mitchell, who posted 13 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. David Rogers was another key player, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Contra Costa Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 61-55 to Valley Christian. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly six points.

Redwood Christian's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.7 points. As for Contra Costa Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-8.

Everything came up roses for Redwood Christian against Contra Costa Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 52-20 victory. In that contest, Redwood Christian amassed a halftime lead of 32-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
