Basketball Recap: Wewahitchka Falls Despite Big Games from Kaden Brooks and Rhemy Patrick

Wewahitchka played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 85-65 to the Liberty County Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 644th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 236th).

Wewahitchka's loss came despite strong showings from Rhemy Patrick and Kaden Brooks. Patrick went 8 of 17 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds, while Brooks went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points. Patrick has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Bryce Ethridge was another key player, putting up seven points and seven rebounds.

Liberty County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micheal Glisson, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Gustavo Rubio, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 21 points.

Wewahitchka dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Liberty County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wewahitchka won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Covenant Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wewahitchka is facing Covenant Christian at the right time seeing as Covenant Christian is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Liberty County, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Sneads at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.5 points per game this season.
