The Rockbridge Academy Scots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Mount Airy Christian Academy 60-24. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rockbridge Academy in their matchups with Mount Airy Christian Academy: they've now lost seven in a row.
Mount Airy Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Garrett Alford led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Alford is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Stanton, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Rockbridge Academy bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Rockbridge Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Covenant Life at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Mount Airy Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Living Grace Christian at 5:15 p.m. on January 18th.
