A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Clewiston has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with 19 straight defeats, while King's Academy will come in with four straight victories.
Clewiston came up short against Avon Park on Friday, falling 20-1.
Clewiston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyra Fields, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, King's Academy got the win against Dr. Joaquin Garcia on Thursday by a conclusive 15-6. Fans of the Lions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Caroline Duncan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Gracyn Needle was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Daniel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
King's Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.
King's Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13 runs. As for Clewiston, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Clewiston suffered a grim 24-13 defeat to King's Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Clewiston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
