Softball Recap: Carroll Sets Scoring Season-High Against Norwell

Carroll lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Norwell, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Knights on Thursday. The Chargers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Taylor Danley made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carroll got a massive performance out of Alexis Pee, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Pee is now averaging an impressive 2.5 runs per game. Kaelyn Kinsey also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Carroll lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their home run total in three consecutive matches.

Carroll has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Norwell, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-5.

Carroll didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-0 win against DeKalb on the 9th. As for Norwell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-5 loss against Heritage on the 10th.
