There's no place like home for the Minneola Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 59-51 victory over Ingalls on Saturday. That's another feather in the cap for Minneola, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Minneola got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Lang out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Lang is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jesse Smith, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Ingalls lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Layton Simon, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simon has scored all season. Breck Averhoff was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Minneola's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Ingalls, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Minneola will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Satanta at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ingalls, they will face off against Ashland at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Ashland has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9.
