The Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks won the last time they faced the Wagener-Salley War Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Everything went Blackville-Hilda's way against the War Eagles as the Fighting Hawks made off with a 44-19 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Blackville-Hilda.
Blackville-Hilda was led to victory by Breyanna Williams and Aubreya Johnson. Williams almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds, while Johnson dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Eva Sapp, who scored eight points along with five steals.
The win got Blackville-Hilda back to even at 9-9. As for Wagener-Salley, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackville-Hilda won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Warhorses at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Barnwell has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20. As for Wagener-Salley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Ridge Spring-Monetta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday.
