Holmes extended the longest winning streak in 3A/2A Northeastern Coastal this week by beating Currituck County, 29-14. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Aces.
Bertie and Northampton County played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Bertie eventually emerging with a 48-42 victory.
First Flight's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nathan Parker threw for 143 and two touchdowns and Billy Foster had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Wyatt Robertson chipped in 121 yards. Dennis Mullen helped First Flight's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
Mullen made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Night Hawks lost to Hertford County. The 5-foot-10 senior recorded two fumbles.
First Flight's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Night Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Parker has thrown for 708 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Foster has 24 catches for 489 yards. Robertson leads the league in rushing with 956 yards.
First Flight's Robertson is a mere 44 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Northeastern takes on Holmes. The Eagles have allowed 103 points this season, while Bob Turner's team has given up 111. Northeastern allowed 8 points last week as it beat Pasquotank.
Antonio Moore's team led 3A/2A Northeastern Coastal in scoring this week after putting up 60 points on the Panthers.
