The Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Mount Union Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Claysburg-Kimmel has 16 straight victories, Mount Union has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Claysburg-Kimmel can't be too worried about heading out to take on Mount Union: they just beat Southern Huntingdon County at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Bulldogs blew past the Rockets 9-2 on Friday. Considering the Bulldogs have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabella Paris made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Bella Francona and Payton Hinish did most of the damage at the plate: Francona went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Hinish went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Hinish has posted since back in May of 2024. McKenna Black was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Claysburg-Kimmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mount Union fell victim to Mifflin County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Huskies, falling 14-0.
Claysburg-Kimmel's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Mount Union, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Mount Union's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Claysburg-Kimmel has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Mount Union, though, as they've only averaged .363. Will they be able to contain Claysburg-Kimmel's hitters?
Everything went Claysburg-Kimmel's way against Mount Union in their previous matchup last Friday, as Claysburg-Kimmel made off with a 14-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
