This season hasn't been kind to the Cummings Cavaliers, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were outmatched by Northwood on the road and fell 48-9. While losing is never fun, Cummings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Northwood is ranked 72nd).
Skylar Adams continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northwood, scoring 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyia Roberts, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Cummings' defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Northwood, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cummings will take on Southeast Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Northwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Chatham Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chatham Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
