I Sunrise - Northeast recap November 13, 2013
Green Valley added to the longest winning streak in I Sunrise - Northeast this week by beating Foothill, 56-31. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Las Vegas took down Basic 63-24 last week, the largest margin of any game. Trevor Swenson threw for 459 yards and 7 touchdowns during the win.
The Wildcats' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Andrew Moreland contributed 114 yards. Karel Byars helped Las Vegas' passing attack out by catching 9 balls for 86 yards.
Moreland was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 114 yards on 14 carries as Las Vegas topped the Wolves. Teammate Elias Miller added to the ground attack by rushing for 37 yards.
Las Vegas' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Swenson has thrown for 2,350 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, while Zanin-Banks has 61 catches for 987 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between James Thurman's team and Green Valley. The Wildcats enters the game ranked 14th in the state, while Brian Castro's team ranks fifth.
Las Vegas' Zanin-Banks is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 13 receiving yards against the Gators to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has acheived 61 catches for 987 yards.
In 146 carries Jarrett Alipio has put up 956 yards this year.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Wildcats and Green Valley face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Las Vegas comes in having scored 424 this season, while the Gators have scored 328. The Wildcats scored 63 points last week as they defeated Basic.
Canyon Springs and Coronado played the closest game in I Sunrise - Northeast this week, with Canyon Springs eventually emerging with a 12-7 victory.
