Basketball Game Preview: Cloverleaf Colts vs. Woodridge Bulldogs

Cloverleaf is 2-8 against Woodridge since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cloverleaf Colts will host the Woodridge Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

While Cloverleaf didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They secured a 57-52 W over Holy Name on Saturday. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Green Wave are ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evie Barth continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 16 points along with eight steals and five boards. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kayla Shook was another key player, posting five points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.

Cloverleaf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Woodridge can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Revere by a score of 58-47.

Woodridge's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Cloverleaf, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Cloverleaf came up short against Woodridge in their previous matchup back in January, falling 53-44. Can Cloverleaf avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
