The Sedgwick County Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Highland Huskies at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sedgwick County will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Caliche on Tuesday. The Cougars blew past the Buffaloes 12-6.
Tate Renquist was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Sedgwick County is 4-1 when Renquist posts three or more RBI, but 3-9 otherwise.

Renquist wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Roman Kirk, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Kirk a new career-high. Korven Magana was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
Sedgwick County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Wiggins typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Highland proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Tigers 2-1.
Highland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sedgwick County, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sedgwick County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
