The Big Bend Roadrunners will be playing at home against the Van Horn Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Big Bend's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Marfa on the road and fell 72-17.
Van Horn suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 57-34 walloping at the hands of Immanuel Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Van Horn in their matchups with Immanuel Christian: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite their loss, Van Horn saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Orlando Zamora, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Corralez, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Big Bend's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Van Horn, they bumped their record down to 15-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
