Corvallis is 0-4 against Columbia Falls since August of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Corvallis Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Columbia Falls Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Corvallis comes in on three and Columbia Falls on six.
Corvallis had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 24-17 win over Laurel on Saturday.
Corvallis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aydan Mayn led the charge by throwing for 300 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillen Potter, who picked up 153 receiving yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Corvallis' defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Drew Lewis and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Columbia Falls faced Billings Central Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Columbia Falls managed a 21-16 win over Billings Central Catholic on Saturday.
It was another big night for Cody Schweikert, who threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jace Hill was another key contributor, picking up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Corvallis to 8-1 and Columbia Falls to 8-2.
Corvallis was dealt a bruising 32-0 loss at the hands of Columbia Falls when the teams last played back in October of 2020. Thankfully for Corvallis, Mason Peters (who threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
