Softball Recap: Midview Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Midview extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 7-8 in the process. They blew past the Avon Lake Shoremen 13-6. Considering the Middies have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Savannah Holcomb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Midview let Dezirae Thomas and Liv Keenan run wild. Thomas got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and two doubles, while Keenan got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Ava Kunakowsky also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Midview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

As for Avon Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

On Avon Lake's side, Carmen McMinn made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Emerson Burgess was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Midview is set to challenge their familiar foe Avon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Middies' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Eagles have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Avon Lake will square off against rival Olmsted Falls at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
