Gateway Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Hampton Christian Academy at home and fell 66-28. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gateway Christian in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.
Hallie Roth was Gateway Christian's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Hampton Christian Academy was led to victory by Jayla Crosby and Mikaela Lee. Crosby scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Lee dropped a triple-double on 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 21 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Lee has scored at least a third of Hampton Christian Academy's points. Lexie Dennis was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Gateway Christian dropped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Hampton Christian Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gateway Christian will take on the Vikings at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Broadwater Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Hampton Christian Academy, they will square off against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Portsmouth Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Warriors are ranked 78th).
