South View is 0-10 against Lumberton since November of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The South View Tigers will host the Lumberton Pirates at 7:30 p.m. South View knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Lumberton likes a good challenge.
If South View beats Lumberton with 72 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. South View really took it to Westover for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-44 win.

South View had a senior duo take command as Antrell Gilmore went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points along with six assists and six boards and Yabniel Cheveres posted 11 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Those six assists gave Gilmore a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasimir Gibson, who had six points and nine boards.
South View was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lumberton came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 65-40 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season.
South View better keep an eye on Jaiden Shephard. He was instrumental in Lumberton's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. Shephard has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 35 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Hammonds, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds.
Lumberton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for South View, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as South View and Lumberton are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. South View hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 67.5 points per game. However, it's not like Lumberton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 58.1 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
South View ended up a good deal behind Lumberton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 70-55. Thankfully for South View, Dimetrious Jones (who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
