Cox Mill scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Concord, 28-21. At the time, the Spiders was ranked 25th in the state, while the Chargers was 133rd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Cox Mill, who took down 25th ranked Concord, 28-21.
Michael Bingham put up the best numbers through the air as Mount Pleasant lost to A.L. Brown. He finished with a total of 15 completions for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Bingham's favorite target this week was Jacob Rawson, who caught four passes for 61 yards.
Dante Pinkston was the best wideout in 3A South Piedmont this week as the Wonders beat the Tigers. Pinkston racked up three receptions for 87 yards. Gabe Lucero helped A.L. Brown's passing attack out by catching one ball for 40 yards.
Ricky Sherrill was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 125 yards on 24 carries as A.L. Brown topped Mount Pleasant. JP Lott also contributed to the rushing game with 69 yards on the ground.
Concord's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. B.J. Beecher has thrown for 1882 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, while Alex Asbury has 22 catches for 780 yards. Rocky Reid leads the league in rushing with 1051 yards.
Going into this week's game against Michael Johns' team, Glen Padgett's team's Beecher needs 118 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in 3A South Piedmont this week will be when Mike Newsome's team takes on Hickory Ridge. The Wonders are in third place, while the Ragin' Bulls are in first place.
Greg Neuendorf's team moved up to 90 from 133 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chargers were able to make the jump by beating the Spiders 28-21.
