West Florida suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were outmatched by Rutherford at home and fell 65-28. West Florida was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-10.
Despite the defeat, West Florida had strong showings from Amani (AB) Bartholomew, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Jakya Brewton, who scored nine points. Bartholomew has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played.
Meanwhile, Choctawhatchee unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Walton Beach.
West Florida has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Choctawhatchee, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
West Florida came up short against Choctawhatchee in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, falling 39-35. Can West Florida avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
