The Dreher Blue Devils are taking a road trip to square off against the North Central Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Dreher will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Dreher is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past South Pointe 25-17 on Thursday. With that win, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 11 runs per game.
Rory McCormack made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring six runs and stealing a base while getting on base in six of her eight plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.

In other batting news, Jameelah Warren was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatiyana Murry, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four runs and four RBI.
Dreher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, North Central never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against Cheraw by a score of 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won three in a row.
The result came thanks to Mackenzie Melton's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, North Central saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carleigh Wallace, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Peyton Sims also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
North Central pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Dreher, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dreher has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. However, it's not like North Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dreher suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to North Central when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Dreher avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
