The Tocoi Creek Toros will head out on the road to square off against the Bradford Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tocoi Creek took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Beachside as they made off with an 11-1 win.
Kaycee Huff was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Santana, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Tocoi Creek hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beachside struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, Bradford made easy work of North Marion on Friday and carried off a 13-1 victory.
Kolee Lemire and Kingslee Phillips did most of the damage at the plate: Lemire scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Phillips scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Kendall Mort also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Tocoi Creek pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Bradford, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Bradford's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Tocoi Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bradford, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Tocoi Creek keep running through batters, or will the Tornadoes buck the trend?
Everything went Tocoi Creek's way against Bradford in their previous matchup back in March, as Tocoi Creek made off with an 11-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Toros since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
