Skyview has gone 8-2 against Columbia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Skyview will look to defend their home field against Columbia at 3:00 p.m. Skyview will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Skyview is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Caldwell with a sharp 15-5 victory on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Ledger Downs made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Trevan Plew was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Henry Downey was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Skyview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Columbia suffered their closest defeat since May 9, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Vallivue by a score of 8-6. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Skyview pushed their record up to 6-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Skyview took their victory against Columbia in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1. Does Skyview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Columbia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
