Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Piles Up the Points Against Edison

There's no place like home for Roosevelt, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They really took it to the Edison Tommies for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-27 win. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Teddies had established a 28 point advantage.

Leading Roosevelt to victory were Obie E Esparza and Calvin Peterson. E Esparza went 7 of 8 on his way to 19 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Peterson went 7 for 16 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. With that strong performance, E Esparza is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Wind, who posted four points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Roosevelt's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Edison, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will take on Community of Peace Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Edison, they will face off against St. Anthony Village at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
