Even though the Spring Grove Lions scored an imposing 63 points on Friday, the Waukon Indians still came out on top. Waukon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 victory over Spring Grove. The win made it back-to-back wins for Waukon.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylie Hammel, who scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Soiney, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Waukon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Spring Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waukon will take on Crestwood at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Spring Grove, they will be playing at home against Kingsland at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
