After flying high against the Marion County Eagles on Thursday, the Crawford County Eagles came back down to earth. Crawford County fell just short of Twiggs County by a score of 45-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crawford County in their matchups with Twiggs County: they've now lost four in a row.
Twiggs County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Armarion Downing out in front who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Downing scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Pitts, who scored 12 points.
Crawford County has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Twiggs County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crawford County will take on Tattnall Square Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Twiggs County and Johnson County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Johnson County is ranked 481st, while Twiggs County is ranked 476th).
