Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 87-54 blowout they got on the road against Orangewood Christian. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-24.
Leading Forest Lake Academy to victory were CJ Jena-Gilles and Isaac Lopez. Jena-Gilles scored 18 points along with two steals, while Lopez dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. Lopez is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Evan Goris, who scored seven points along with seven assists and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Orangewood Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caleb Shrode. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shrode has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Benson, who scored nine points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Forest Lake Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Orangewood Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
