Taft has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the O'Connor Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Taft will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 585th, while O'Connor is ranked 147th).
Taft suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 103-49 loss at the hands of Brennan. Taft was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-22.
Meanwhile, O'Connor pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Harlan by a score of 61-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss O'Connor has suffered yet this season.
Taft bumped their record down to 7-19 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for O'Connor, their loss dropped their record down to 17-11.
Taft came up short against O'Connor in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 72-62. Can Taft avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
