Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Wellington

Wellington had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Centennial Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolverines also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

Grace VanDyke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Wellington let Sam Ellis and Catalina Baronci run wild. Ellis got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Baronci went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Ellis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessilyn Vera, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Wellington's record is now 5-3. As for Centennial, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-4.

Coming up, Wellington will take on Cardinal Newman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Centennial, they will square off against Melbourne at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
