The Scripps Ranch Falcons will face off against the Santana Sultans at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Scripps Ranch's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Escondido with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Sarah Cornelissen was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Eme Ledbetter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Scripps Ranch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Escondido only managed two.
Meanwhile, Santana hadn't done well against Steele Canyon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Sultans blew past the Cougars 12-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sultans considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Alexis Buquet tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brynn Warren, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Paityn Miller, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Santana's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Scripps Ranch, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scripps Ranch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Santana struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
