The Westhope/Newburg Sioux's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a hard 53-37 fall against Glenburn. Westhope/Newburg was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Glenburn apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the defeat, Westhope/Newburg saw an underclassman step up: Marleigh Henry scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Henry scored 15 or more points.
Even though they lost, Westhope/Newburg were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Westhope/Newburg's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Glenburn, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.
Westhope/Newburg will be playing in front of their home fans against Our Redeemer's Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Glenburn, they will head out on the road to face off against South Prairie/Max at 5:24 p.m. on Friday.
