After flying high against the Plain Dealing Lions last Thursday, the Homer Pelicans came back down to earth. Homer lost to Ringgold on the road by a decisive 69-52 margin on Friday. Homer has struggled against Ringgold recently, as their matchup on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Ringgold's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordyn Wilson, who scored 23 points along with five steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Wilson posted two or more blocks. Jbari Adams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds.
Homer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Ringgold, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homer will square off against Evangel Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ringgold, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Arcadia at 6:30 p.m. on February 10th. Arcadia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Ringgold likes a good challenge.
