Basketball Recap: Indian Creek Beats North Putnam for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Indian Creek waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took down the North Putnam Cougars 45-27. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Cougars are ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Indian Creek to victory were Ayla Lollar and Alexa Sichting. Lollar went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and seven steals, while Sichting went 7 of 12 on her way to 15 points along with five boards and three steals. Those seven steals gave Lollar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Tunell, who posted six points.

Indian Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for North Putnam, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Indian Creek and Heritage Hills will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Indian Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. As for North Putnam, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Montgomery at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
